Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

He said that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked energy facilities, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

The strikes succeed periods of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
