Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
